The Big Scramble - An Overview

Postby AC on Wed Mar 10, 2010 10:12 pm

Do you want to have a BANG out fun time while raising money for a great cause?

Adventurous Concepts (AC) is hosting a charity race to benefit the Alzheimer's Association whereby all proceeds will be donated to the not-for-profit organization. I am committed to do something to help find a cure for Alzheimer's - and you can help! Join me to have some fun and support this effort.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Alzheimer's and I need your help.

Your mission is to get yourself and a few friends out to race thru South Beach. Make a team with your friends, daughters, sons, parents, siblings, friends, coworkers, or get the boss on board as a team building exercise.

Teams can be comprised of two, three or four persons. You'll count on your collective wisdom to develop race strategy, plan your route, and make key decisions. You can walk, run, or take public transportation to arrive at checkpoint (CP) locations. It is estimated the course will last between 1.5 - 4 hours depending how quickly you move and your decisions.

Your team will be given a clue sheet just prior to race start, which will require you to decipher 10-15 clues. Each clue represents a specific checkpoint. Your task is to follow the instructions on said sheet. Don't be surprised if, at some locations, you are tasked to do a wacky or not so wacky activity.

Teams are allowed to use a lifeline for assistance. You can contact a non-participating friend sitting at home waiting for your call, someone in the street, or use your smart phone. Bikes, cars, taxis, and skateboards are not permitted. Permitted modes of transportation include train, buses, etc. If you have any doubt on what is permitted, go ahead and ask.

If you want to dress up in a costume to express yourself, fulfill a fantasy, or just add color to the festivities, go ahead.

There are only 200 individual slots available so sign up quickly so you don't miss out on the fun.

Divisions:

Two-Person Team
Three-Person Team
Four-Person Team
Four-Person Corporate Team

Scramblers,

The Big Scramble reached its goal of raising $10k for the benefit of the Alzheimer's Association. In fact, we came in at $10,100! Thank you all for making this achievement possible via online donations, registration fees, matching campaigns, and auction bids.

Big thanks to our sponsors:

Adventurous Concepts, Green Monkey, Miami Beach Cinematheque, LandShark Beer, Hammer Nutrition, Miami Beach Bicycle, Massage by Design, Gino's Pizza, Standard Hotel, Books & Books, A La Follie, Crunch Fitness, The Rhythm Foundation, Paintings Creation, RoadID, Built for Health, and Jusuru.

Additional thanks goes to the Jewish Memorial and Miami Beach Botanical Garden for giving us permission to use their facilities and the volunteers who helped make the event go smoothly.

The Big Scramble will happen again on February 12, 2011. We hope you can join us!

Best,

Elias
